LinkedIn experiments with TikTok-inspired video feed

LinkedIn is exploring a TikTok-inspired video feed feature, mirroring the short-form content trend seen on other platforms. Users can interact with videos similarly to other LinkedIn posts.
Move over TikTok, LinkedIn is getting in on the short-form video action! On March 28th, LinkedIn confirmed they're testing a new video feed similar to what you might see on TikTok or Instagram Reels.
This isn't surprising. For years, social media platforms like Instagram, YouTube, and even Netflix have been trying to capture the magic of TikTok's vertical video format and its ability to spark trends and conversations. With over a billion users, TikTok's success is undeniable.
LinkedIn's video feed, currently in beta testing, is accessible through a new "Video" tab within the app. The videos themselves function similarly to other LinkedIn posts: users can like them, comment, or share them with their network.
There's no official word yet on when this feature will be available to everyone on LinkedIn. However, early testers like startup founder Karina Hsu described it as "feeling like TikTok for work" with a mix of inspirational content and current events.
This move makes sense considering LinkedIn's growing community of influencers. Many podcasters, career coaches, and business owners have built massive followings on the platform with various content formats. LinkedIn itself acknowledges that users are increasingly seeking video content for learning and development purposes. After all, many young people (LinkedIn's future user base) are turning to TikTok for educational content, including career-related topics.
However, LinkedIn has attempted to replicate popular features before with mixed results. Remember "LinkedIn Stories"? This feature, similar to Snapchat and Instagram Stories, didn't quite translate well to a professional networking environment.
Will short-form video be a hit for LinkedIn? Only time will tell, but one thing's for sure: they're keeping things interesting!
Inspired by LinkedIn's new video feature and want to develop a similar platform for your own niche?
