Securing Automotive Wholesale with a Smarter Rating System

In a marketplace where dealers are buying vehicles from sellers they've never met, trust is everything. Cox Automotive had a rating system in place, but it wasn't doing the job. It was too simple, easy to manipulate, and depending on which marketplace a dealer was operating in, it showed conflicting data. For a platform built on high-stakes transactions, that wasn't good enough.

Band of Coders rebuilt the rating system from the ground up, pulling in the data points that actually matter. Buying and selling activity across physical and digital marketplaces, delivery and payment time, sales volume, uncompleted transactions and transaction feedback all fed into a smarter, more reliable picture of each dealer's track record. We also built in a safeguard for edge cases: account managers could step in and override feedback when a dealer was rated poorly through no fault of their own. The result was a system that gave Cox's dealers the confidence to transact with sellers they could genuinely trust.
