Problem

Jack Calhoun, founder of NGT Enterprises, recognized a gap in the outdoor cooking market: there were no thermometers that could withstand both weather extremes and line-of-sight limitations. He endeavored to fill this niche, building Smokebloq. Smokebloq is a thermometer that allows people to connect their various cooking devices to their home Wi-Fi network, transmitting temperature data to the cloud.

Solution

Band of Coders was brought on to create the SmokeBloq iOS app. It connects with an IoT hardware device, the SmokeBloq thermometer, to obtain, record, and monitor temperature readings when cooking food outdoors, such as on ceramic grills like the Big Green Egg. The app has a serverless backend using AWS.
